Rethinking Coastal Destinations has arrived to Cyprus Tourism by means of a new European Quality label for coastal communities which prioritizes sustainability and transparency as a means of achieving the delicate equilibrium of preservation and promotion of territories. The first European Quality Coast Award, is a significant advancement and proves that it is possible to be committed to nature, landscape, identity and cultural heritage and for these to become determining elements of Choice for visitors when selecting holiday destinations.
The recent award given to 12 coastal municipalities from 5 european countries, will see Kouklia from Cyprus, along with Torres Vedras, Calviá, Averio, Fuerteventura, Ameland, Goedereede, Katwijk and Schouwen-Duiveland, with a new symbolic Flag offered by the Quality Coast Partnership, that will help to raise awareness and recognition to those new communities that aim for a tourism that values natural, cultural heritage and identity as essential elements of a sustainable model. The award symbolically goes to a first destination but also to the work a various entities such as AKTI, the environmental forum (CESF) and many others which have envisioned to make a reality a sustainable model for governance and management. Our most sincere congratulations from all of us.
