What to do now?

Cyprus in your heart for another tourism campaign

More than just tourism for Cyprus as a hospitality destination

    Cyprus as your destination favourite

"Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite and the island of contrasts. It is unique because it contains countless possibilities and choices...all just a breath away. On Cyprus the visit takes the lead role in enjoy the sun, sea, the wonderful climate, the 'warm' people and their hospitality, the island's cuisine, culture and history. The visitor's experiences shall stay with them and remain always in their heart."

The concept of the campaign is based on the contrasts, an island which over a small geographic are that contains infinite opportunities and offers countless experiences. This variety and breadth can be lived by everyone who visits the island, since everything is just a moment away. As with all concepts and existing marketing practice, the key to an idea may lie in its execution, but if we're to judge by the basis of the idea, the actual concept is a refresher.

I really want this campaign to work, I really want the CTO to succeed, I really want to see freshness and authenticity, I really want to see a sincere collaboration aiming towards sustainable development of tourism, I really want to "feel sexy" as a destination of hospitality, but what I see in this "new" attempt is an old and worn & torn message not getting in people's heart. Cyprus can only be in our heart if ourselves open our hearts and this message is not a heart opener.

It is quite a nice video but actually I preferred the old ones!  The one I have on the front page of my website.

I thought it was spot on.

However, if cto are changing the campaign in the future they need to look at campaigns around the world and pick the best ideas from them.

Spain is a glowing example of fantastic tourism.

Have a look at Benidorm.. it went to the dogs for a number of years but it was turned round.

Admittedly they changed the face of the skyline as well getting rid of some of the horrible concrete block buildings.. but like anything else you have spend money in the right place.

I think the people of the CTO should be asking people in cyprus tourism for ideas.. they just might find a gem, because after all they are the real individuals who are speaking with the actual tourist who comes here.

Get them to solicit ideas from their visitors. They are the ones who are spending the money and coming here.. they will soon tell the hotel manager what they dont like about cyprus.

Jackie thank for responding. I'll coincide with you about the positive impacts of good urbanism and development with taste - Benidorm is not on my list for a benchmark, sorry.

I think on the municipal level, cities have progressed in general, but the weak link is the network. Getting ideas is fine - but working as a network is a different strategic game altogether. It's not about being responsive to opinions, likes and dislikes - it's setting the agenda and priorities so as to work and achievement at all levels, cultural, gastronomical, mobility, sustainability etc...If you're looking to the CTO for that, you won't find it, because it's not their task - remember they are about promotion, some quality control and ensuring that they have political power to ensure the trade sector keeps in line.
